Walks in and around Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors!!

WALKS IN AND AROUND WHITBY AND THE NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS!

Whitby Holiday Park is ideally located for those of you who are thinking of taking a walking holiday.

As we are part of the Cleveland Way walk, we are perfect for a nice stroll into Whitby which is only approx 1 mile away from the Park. If you walk the other way away from Whitby the Cleveland Way leads you to Robin Hoods Bay which is around a 6 mile walk. This route is more a small hike than a nice stroll, as you do have some hills to climb, but you also do go through some nice wooded areas along the way!

If you don't mind a longer walk you can walk from the Park all the way to Runswick Bay on the Cleveland Way too! There are plenty of pubs to stop off at on your way! Such as Abbey Wharf, The Dolphin, The Pier Inn in Whitby, then in Sandsend you could stop off for a drink and a pub lunch at the Hart Inn! The food is beautiful and I could really recommend the steak or the seafood platter to share! Once you have filled up at the Hart, you have a fair walk to Runswick Bay. This is a beautiful little village and well worth a viewing! There is a nice little pub called the Royal Hotel. Buses do run from Runswick Bay back to Whitby quite regularly so you don't have to be daunted by a long walk back too! Unless you are felling energetic!

There are other walks in the area as the North Yorkshire Moors are on our doorstep! Not too far a drive is Maybeck and Falling Foss! This a lovely 2 mile round walk through woodland which passes the tea garden and the 30ft waterfall of Falling Foss before making your way back along babbling brook of May Beck!

If you fancy a drive a little further into The North Yorkshire Moors, then there is a lovely walk around the Hole of Hocum. This is located on the A169 between Whitby and Pickering. There is a car park (charges apply) just opposite the walk, but this is definitely a place to visit and have a little hike around as you do get some stunning views!

Another great walk is from Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay. You can either walk the Cleveland Way which takes you on a lovely coastal path through some small wooded areas and up some steep banks! Or you can take the Cinder Track along the old railway line from Hawsker to Robin Hoods Bay. This is a more gentle path compared to the Cleveland Way! You can even bike along this path is you don't fancy the walk!

Once you have tired yourself out on your adventures throughout the day, you can stop off in the Family Club for a nice refreshing cold drink - as you will have well deserved it!!

If you are still feeling energetic then you could try a few walks out while you are staying with us! Or book your next holiday with us before you leave so that you can try other walks out on your return next time!
