Things to do in the last week of the Summer Holidays

Things to do in the last week of the Summer Holidays

If you are staying with us this week then why not check out the following places to visit while you are here!!

A short drive away is the wonderful hidden treasure of Folling Foss tea garden and waterfall. Once you have parked up you can go and explore the waterfall and the lovely wooded area you are surrounded in. There are some trails for you to follow and after a nice walk around Falling Foss and Maybeck, why not stop off at the tea gardens and sample some of the lovely food and drinks they have on offer.

If you were looking for something to do without having to drive then you are just a short walk along the cliff path to Whitby Abbey. For an admission charge you can walk around our beautiful ruins of Whitby Abbey and see where the monks lived and worked. Once you had been there then you could walk down the 199 steps into Whitby and head for Grape Lane where you could call in and look around Captain Cooks Museum and also the Museum of Victorian Science!

If the weather is still nice then you can always head down to Saltwick Bay beach! The footpath down to the beach can be located just on the park near the new hardstanding motorhome pitches! Once down on the beach you can make a day of fossil hunting and looking for the famous Whitby Jet! You could also try crabbing in the rockpools or looking for different shells to take home as a momento! Why not pack a picnic or order some food from the Cafe to take down with you just incase you get a bit peckish!!
Further afield is Sandsend beach. Down here you can feed to the ducks and paddle in the stream! After a day of relaxing you could also call into The Hart Inn who provide some beautiful meals!

There are plenty of other things to do in the Whitby area too like visiting Whitby Museum and then having a walk in Pannett Park that surrounds the museum! With a play park for the little ones to enjoy there is something for everyone to do!

A walk on the West Cliff will bring you to Arnold Palmers Crazy Golf course! This can be enjoyed by the whole family and can get quite competitive for those of you who like a challenge!! Just below the crazy golf on the beach there is the Whitby Surf School. You can try your hand at surfing or kayaking but booking is preferable! All equipment can be hired from the school so don't worry if you don't own a wetsuit!

For a chilled afternoon the Whitby Pavilion occasionally have an afternoon film showing on their screen! So check out their website to see if there is a showing !

For those of you who are brave why not visit the Dracula Experience!! This isn't for the faint hearted but well worth a trip!! And afterwards you can treat yourself to an ice cream from the kiosk nearby!!

Another way to view all of what Whitby has got to offer is to go on the Open Top Bus! You can catch this from Whitby Abbey and it takes you on a guided tour of Whitby!

So as you can see Whitby has quite a lot to off you as well as some great views and walks! If you are looking for anything not mentioned above then why not call into the office to look at the leaflets we have for local attractions in the Yorkshire Coast area!
