Stress Free Holidays with the Family

Going on holiday is never easy, particularly when you have children and pets to think about too.  Staycations are becoming more and more popular as there is less hassle and you can take the whole family with you too!  Yes, even the dog can go too!

If you are going to holiday at home, then there is only one place for you to go........and that's to the Seaside!!  Every holiday should be spent within close proximity to the beach.  Whether you are young, or old, everyone likes a beach holiday.  Okay, so the weather may not be the same as in Spain or the Canaries, but who wants to spend 4 hours stuck on a plane and in the airport, only to be delayed for several hours??  No, I didn't think you would!

One of the best things about living in England, is that you are never too far away from the seaside.  All you need to do is just jump in the car and within a couple of hours you are there!  Okay, so it may take a little longer if you are towing a caravan, but there's nothing better than being the first one to be able to spot the sea!

The hardest part is choosing where you want to go.  Do you go North, South, East or West!?  Well how about the North East Coast.  Nothing beats a holiday along the North East Coastline (and yes I am biased as I do live here!)  But once you have paid this part of the Coast a visit, you will never want to go anywhere else!!  Ranging from places like Grimsby up to Berwick Upon Tweed, there are plenty of seaside towns and villages to choose from for that perfect stress free family getaway.

Whitby is one of the best places along the North East Coast to come for a family holiday as it caters for everyone young and old alike!  People from all over the country come to visit this picturesque seaside town, and some end up never leaving!

There are plenty of walks along the beautiful coastline to more amazing seaside villages, all of which have amazing stories to tell and are worth a day trip to see.

This part of the coastline is also known as the Jurassic coast and is the ideal place to come fossil hunting!  We here at Whitby Holiday Park are actually situated in an area known locally as Saltwick Bay which is well known for fossils.  We have direct access to the beach where people spend hours hunting for fossils.  But be warned, keep an eye on that tide, as once it starts to come in, it comes in fast!  Just a short 5 and a half mile walk along the Cleveland Way footpath, which runs along the cliffs, is the small, but very popular fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay.  With its cobbled streets and little knick knack shops, this is another beautiful village that you must see whilst here.

One of the best things about having a staycation is that once you have arrived, all you need to do is unpack and relax!  If you are lucky enough to be staying with us here at Whitby Holiday Park then why not unwind and relax with a nice cold pint in our Family Club House (which is open most nights from 6pm onwards).  We also have entertainment on most nights too, ranging from bingo to game shows and even visiting cabaret acts.  We also hold a kids club for a couple of hours on weekends and Bank Holidays (so you can even lose the kids for a couple of hours!)  And don't worry about having to leave your beloved four legged friend stuck in the caravan as we allow dogs in our Club too!

Our static caravans that we hire out are like a home away from home.  Most of them come with a double room, a twin room and a pull out bed in the lounge.  They all have a bathroom which has a shower, sink and toilet so the only thing you need to worry about is who is going to use it first!  They all have their own kitchen facilities too, so if you decide that you want to cook, you can do (if not we have our very own cafe on site which does takeaway!)  We do also provide all of our static caravans with their own Tv which comes with Freesat and a DVD player, perfect for those cosy nights in!  We even have specific caravans where you can bring your beloved four legged friend with you on holiday too!  We even provide a bowl, blanket, and a few little treats for them to make them feel at home too!

As well as having a Family Club House on site, we also have a cafe and shop on site too, which provides most essentials for a caravan holiday.  So if you really don't want to go anywhere, you don't have too as everything is provided for you!

We really are the perfect stress free holiday, and pretty much right on your doorstep!  We have stunning views of both the moors and sea, both of which are within easy access of the Park!

So when it comes to that time of year again when you are starting to plan your next holiday away, why not pick somewhere that little bit closer to home and stress free!

Whitby Holiday Park Clothes Throw!!

Whitby Holiday Park Clothes Throw

Over the August Bank Holiday Weekend we will be holding a Fun day on Sunday 28th August.

We have decided that we would hold a Clothes Throw! So all you would have to do is bring any unwanted clothing items such as trousers, skirts, shirts, dresses, hats, shoes and handbags etc to the Holiday Park to be donated to our Clothes Throw stall.

You make like to donate some items, but why not have a browse at the stall to see if anything else takes your fancy?!!

This is perfect for decluttering your wardrobes to make space for a whole new collection of clothes! Or if you have children and they have outgrown their clothes then why not donate them to us.

All proceeds made are going to the charity that we support which is The Great North Air Ambulance, which is a very worthy cause.

Everyone has some clothing items that they no longer wear, so don't forget to donate them to our Clothes Throw stall!!

Maybe you are looking for a new wardrobe and haven't found anything to wear in the shops? Well there could be the perfect clothes on sale for you! And with it you are donating to charity.

So come along and support us! Even if you don't have anything to donate you can still have a look at what we have for sale. You may even pick up a couple of key items that you can reinvent into a new item!!

Whitby Holiday Park Book Swap Shop!!

Whitby Holiday Park Book Swap Shop

I don't know about anyone else but I love a good book to read whether i'm on holiday or just in my spare time.

Books can be read in any weather, so if you're lying on the beach or tucked up in your caravan on a wet and windy day, you can open a book and lose yourself in the story line.

In our Launderette you will find a vast array of books to borrow for your stay, so you are bound to find something that takes your fancy!

If you have brought a book with you and you have finished reading it while you are here, why not leave it at the book swap station and pick up another!

We also have jigsaws to borrow if reading isn't something you are interested in.

We try and keep the book swap filled up with new titles, so we all donate our books so that others can get some reading time from them too
If you have any books that you no longer need, bring them along to the Park and we will put them in our Book Swap station.

So to enjoy a few quiet hours to yourself to relax on your holidays,  enjoy a good book with a nice glass of wine or ice cold long drink!

Now that I have written about books, its made me think that i will pick my book up this evening for a good read! I'm reading a book my Diana Gabaldon. It's about a lady who visits Scotland and goes back in time when she steps through a stone circle. I'm on book 5 of the series and its kept me quiet for many hours reading it!! Who's your favourite author? Maybe you could recommend an author to other book lovers!

Fundraising for a Fantastic Cause

GREAT NORTH AIR AMBULANCE

Throughout the year we hold several raffles to help raise vital funds for a much needed service.  As we live in an area that is not always easily accessible by road, the Great North Air Ambulance is a service we could not do without!
The North Yorkshire Moors with its rugged landscape and hidden nooks and crannies, is very popular with walkers who like to hike along the various footpaths that can be found hidden amongst the heather and farm land.  If something was to happen whilst out on one of these routes, a normal ambulance would be unable to reach them.  This is where the vital service that the Great North Air Ambulance provides comes in.  As they are able to land in most places, the Air Ambulances can not only get closer to the patient, they also get there within minutes (which can be the difference between life or death!)

We held our first raffle at Easter, when the park was nice and full.  To get people to buy tickets we had a nice big Thorntons' Easter Egg as one of the main prizes.  Everybody wanted to win this (and I don't blame them!).  We also had a big cuddly teddy bear  for which you had to guess the name.  This went down a treat with both young and old a like.

We have another raffle planned for over Spring Bank Holiday weekend when we are also having a party to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday.
We have lots of exciting prizes waiting to be won so make sure you come along and join in the fun.  There will also be party dances and fancy dress going on for all the family, followed by an amazing visiting cabaret act on the night time.  All money raised on this day will be going straight to the Great North Air Ambulance, along with that raised from our first raffle and also from another raffle that we will be holding later on in the year.

As stated earlier, living where we do, on the cliffs of the North East Coast of England, surrounded by the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, we would be at a loss without a service like this.
