My time at Whitby Holiday Park

My time at Whitby Holiday Park

Changes:

I had been working in education for 10 years and due to my life taking a very unexpected turn my mind-set changed, I decided a change in my career would be the right road to take.
My brother saw the job advertisement for a Receptionist needed at Whitby Holiday Park, he contacted me and convinced me it would be perfect for me as he said 'I am very much a people person and very helpful.'
I took the plunge and applied and I am very glad I did, I work with a fantastic group of people, they are very understanding, helpful and supportive.

My First Day:

Monday 16th May 2016 was my first day at Whitby Holiday Park and I remember feeling very nervous when I was driving to work as I didn't know what to expect.

I had already been fore warned that the office would be very busy as the parks season had started, and it was.

The phones were constantly ringing and my two work colleagues seemed rushed off their feet, I felt more of a hindrance than a help, but they were both very patient and every time there was a quiet spell they spent time showing me the basics, there were times during that first week where I felt out of my depth.

After my first week I was confident enough to take a telephone booking independently but I was still very nervous about checking people in.
Everybody made me feel very welcome and that eased my nerves, the customers were also very patient and understanding.

Settled:

I am very settled in my new job and I am extremely thankful to Susan Robey for giving me the opportunity.
Our Facilities
Changing my job was a big life changing decision, but it was the right decision, I have worked here now for 7 months and I thoroughly enjoy meeting and greeting all our customers.
View from our touring field

Whitby Holiday Park is a very pleasant picturesque place to work, and I am pleased I made the change.

Halloween 2016

Here in reception we get involved in the spirit of the current celebration. We dress for the occasion and decorate the office and bar accordingly, the customers enjoy and appreciate our efforts.

New for 2017 at Whitby Holiday Park

NEW FOR 2017 AT WHITBY HOLIDAY PARK

Here at Whitby Holiday Park we are in the process of  having some upgrading work been done to our Family Club. We will be posting update photos as the work progresses

Our company always looks at different areas to improve and this year they has decided to improve the Family Club.
So when you come to visit us you will see a difference in the club and bar area.

The bar area will no longer be separate from the main entertainment room, and the cinema area will be sectioned off in its own room. This will make a more relaxing area for all the family to enjoy. You will be able to enjoy our visiting cabaret acts on an evening over the Bank Holiday and Summer Holiday weekends only, and at all other times you can relax with some nice background music while you enjoy a cold glass of wine or beer!

We will have some extra Platinum caravans also on our Hire Fleet for 2017, so if you are looking at booking your holiday in the UK then look no further and come and see us on the North East Coast.

If you are a touring customer then you will be pleased to know that we are providing hair drying facilities in the toilet and shower areas and also some seats in the shower area.

Our Maintenance Team are busy working hard on all the jobs that can only be done in the quieter season. Whether they are moving caravans or improving Hire Fleet caravans with deckings and other interior improvements to make your stay with us a home from home experience.

So as you can see the Park is as busy as ever and as the work on the Family Club progresses we will post on Facebook the photos of the different stages and also put on a before and after photo once the work has been completed.

We hope you enjoy the new layout of the Family Club and we are excited to open the doors to you all  in March 2017.

pumpkin carving ideas for all!!

Pumpkin Carving Ideas for Everyone!!

As it is nearly that time of year again I thought I would share some pumpkin carving ideas with you, which you can do with Halloween just being around the corner!!

As I am not the most artistic person I can't produce anything spectacular!! But if you love carving pumpkins at Halloween for your children or grandchildren then the following ideas may come in handy for you!

Opposite is the original and classic ghost shape. To me he looks like something off Ghostbusters!

One of my favourite films to watch is The Nightmare Before Christmas so this would make a great carving picture just like the one opposite.

Other great ideas for your pumpkin carving activity are:

  • witch
  • howling wolf
  • cat
  • tinkerbell
  • cauldron
  • scary faces
  • minions
  • frankenstein
  • spiders and webs
  • skeletons
  • mummies.

The options are endless and you can make it as intricate or as plain as you like, but they all have the same spooky feel to them!!
You can also carve swedes up just in the same way as the pumpkins - this is what we used to do as children!

If you are bringing the children away and staying with us over the Halloween weekend then why not bring your pumpkins with you and make an afternoon activity of it. You could also make some toffee apples or coat apples in chocolate and sprinkles for a twist to the original toffee apple!

I found a few websites that do have printable templates that you can use to get the general idea of where to carve. They are:

  • pinterest
  • www.partydelights.co.uk
or just google: pumpkin carving ideas!!

So once you have carved your pumpkins and made your toffee apples, why not have a halloween tea party for the kids! Dont forget to serve up severed fingers in buns (hotdogs and tomato sauce in buns!!) as well as the gunge cakes (green butter icing on top of cakes!!)

Then it will be time for donning the costumes and going trick or treating!! Or if you are staying with us come along to the Family Club for an evening of entertainment with Charlie!

Half Term Availability

Booking Up Fast for Half Term..............................................

It won't be long before the schools are off again for half term, and if you haven't quite decided what you want to do, why not book a stay with us here at Whitby!?

If you have not stayed with us before, then you will not know what a wonderful site we have, situated right up on the cliff tops over looking overlooking the beautiful Saltwick Bay.  Ok, so we might be a little biased, but if you don't believe us then you will just have to come and see for yourself!!

If you time it right with the tides you will be able to see what is left of the hospital ship The Rohilla, which went down on Saltwick Bay.  The tide has to be right out for you to see it, but do be careful, as when the tide starts to turn it comes in very fast!

This beach is also pet friendly as dogs can go down there all year. So if the weathers fine, why not take a stroll on down and delve in amongst the rock pools or have a go at fossil hunting.  You may even be lucky enough to find some Jet in its natural form.

As you can see our touring field is situated right on the cliff top where you get some fantastic views out over the north sea and out towards the Abbey.

As you can imagine, our sea view pitches are very popular and do get booked up very quickly!  However, we do occasionally have the odd one spare, so do always ask when you ring to book a place with us!!

However, our other pitches are just as popular.  Okay, so you might not get a view out over the sea, but you do get some fantastic views of the monastic ruins of Whitby Abbey!  If you are lucky, you may even catch one of the amazing sunsets or sunrises (for the early risers!) that appear on our beautiful stretch of coastline.

If you don't fancy staying in a touring caravan or motor home on the cliff edge then do not worry as we also rent out static caravans.  We have three areas on site, Cleveland Way, Harbour Side and Abbey View.  As you can guess, the Cleveland Way part of the site is overlooking the Cleveland Way footpath that runs along the cliffs and through onto Robin Hoods Bay.  With most of these caravans you will get a partial sea view looking in between the caravans in front of you.  The Harbour Side part of the site is centrally located so it is closer to all the amenities.  Unfortunately you do not get any views from these caravans, but you are only a short walk to the cliff edge!  And last but not least is our Abbey view side which overlooks the Abbey ruins, and is close to the cliff path into Whitby!

We have different categories ranging from Pet Friendly through to Platinum caravans, all of which are situated across the whole site.  Most of our caravans come with a double room, a twin room and a pull out bed in the lounge.  You get a bathroom which has a shower, sink and toilet in, and you get a kitchen which has a cooker, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and all your pots and pans included!  We do also provide you with a TV with a DVD player and Freesat.

We do still have spaces available on our touring field as well as in our static caravans for the October half term, so if you haven't yet decided what you are doing for the half term break, don't leave it too late or we will have to disappoint you!

In the statics we have the following avaiable:

From Saturday 22nd October for seven nights:

Platinum - 4 berth - £574.00
Gold - 4 berth - £542.00
Silver - 6 berth - £532.00
Pet Friendly - 2 berth - £455.00

From Saturday 22nd October for six nights we have the following:

Pet Friendly - 6 berth - £390.00

On the touring field you will be looking at the following prices:

Abbey view - Monday to Thursday - £22.00 a night
Friday, Saturday and Sunday - £23.00 a night

Sea View (if you're lucky!) - Monday to Thursday - £26.00 a night
Friday, Saturday and Sunday £27.00 a night

Don't forget your £10 deposit for your toilet key if you are staying on the touring field!!

Spaces are starting to go fast now for the October Half Term, and particularly for Halloween weekend, so don't leave it much too longer to book your stay with us, as we do not want to disappoint you!
