Why not come and join in the fun of Halloween in Whitby.

There is plenty to do at Whitby Abbey:

This Halloween half term join us for frightening fun, with have-a-go creepy crafts and spooky activities. Meet our Victorian undertaker for secrets of the past and storytelling of scary tales - but not too scary!

Also A chance to see the Abbey aglow with coloured floodlights highlighting the magnificent ruin that inspired Bram Stoker. You can also meet our costumed characters each night and discover the darker side of the past.

All this is going on between 31st October and 3rd November 

So grab your halloween costumes and trick or treat bags and have a brilliant time.

After dark head on back to the holiday park and have a boogie in the onsite Family Club.

With another season nearly over it's now that time of year to start thinking about booking your 2014 holiday!!

With bookings now being taken for both hiring accommodation and touring, don't wait too long to book to avoid missing out!! 

Touring bookings can be made with a deposit of just £5.00 per night and our hiring accommodation with a deposit of 20% of your booking total.

If you book your holiday with us before 1st February in our hiring accommodation you will receive a discount of 10%. This is a great saving!!! So what are you waiting for?!! Call the office to book and know you have a fantastic holiday to look forward to in 2014!!

Spooky Shananigans in the Family Club

Watch out for all the fun and ghouly goings on in the Family Club this Saturday 26th October at the Halloween Fancy Dress Party!!

There are lots of games for the Children with a few for the adults to join in with! We have a visiting cabaret act and prizes to be won for the fancy dress competition! Also there will be audience participation Scary Bingo!!

So get your best scary and frightening costumes at the ready and come and have a fantastic evening with us.

We still have some vacancies on our touring field so if you are at a loose end this weekend why not come and join in the fun and games with Dean our resident entertainer!

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

SATURDAY 26TH OCTOBER

AT WHITBY HOLIDAY PARK FAMILY CLUB

10AM  TO 12.30PM

Every year Whitby Holiday park tries to support Macmillan in any way they can and every little helps towards it.  We do fund raising days, raffles, tombola's, car boots etc throughout the season and all proceeds gets donated to them.  For the last 2 years Carol Gibson one of our caravan owners and Anne Lloyd who is the club managers wife do a coffee morning for the Macmillan so why not come along and try to support them.  There will be raffles, bingo, tombola, cakes, tea and coffee in the club on the 26th October so please come along and help us, everyone is welcome.  It is also a way to get everyone together who may have experienced cancer in their life at some time.  Big thank you to Carol and Anne for all their effort and time.

HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN CAKE

HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN CAKE

Ingredients

For the cake

• 300g self-raising flour
• 300g light muscovado sugar
• 3 tsp mixed spice
• 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
• 175g sultanas
• ½ tsp salt
• 4 eggs, beaten
• 200g butter, melted
• zest 1 orange
• 1 tbsp orange juice
• 500g (peeled weight) pumpkin or butternut squash flesh, grated

For drenching and frosting

• 200g pack soft cheese
• 85g butter, softened
• 100g icing sugar, sifted
• zest 1 orange and juice of half

Method

1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Butter and line a 30 x 20cm baking or small roasting tin with baking parchment. Put the flour, sugar, spice, bicarbonate of soda, sultanas and salt into a large bowl and stir to combine. Beat the eggs into the melted butter, stir in the orange zest and juice, then mix with the dry ingredients till combined. Stir in the pumpkin. Pour the batter into the tin and bake for 30 mins, or until golden and springy to the touch.
2. To make the frosting, beat together the cheese, butter, icing sugar, orange zest and 1 tsp of the juice till smooth and creamy, then set aside in the fridge. When the cake is done, cool for 5 mins then turn it onto a cooling rack. Prick it all over with a skewer and drizzle with the rest of the orange juice while still warm. Leave to cool completely.
3. If you like, trim the edges of the cake. Give the frosting a quick beat to loosen, then, using a palette knife, spread over the top of the cake in peaks and swirls. If you’re making the cake ahead, keep it in the fridge then take out as many pieces as you want 30 mins or so before serving. Will keep, covered, for up to 3 days in the fridge.
