Whitby Regatta

The Whitby Regatta is probably the oldest sea Regatta on the North East coast and draws large crowds into Whitby each year, so we are nearly booked up already!

This year’s event, the 173rd Whitby Regatta, runs from the 9th to the 12th August, with four very full days of entertainment, including rowing races of all shapes and descriptions, culminating on Monday with a Grand Parade, a Firework Extravaganza and prize presentation.

There are lots of fun things for you to see and do, including a Fun Run, a Raft Race and Beach Soccer, all of which you need to enter for.  Application Forms are available on the Whitby Regatta Site.

Regatta Programmes are available at many retailers in Whitby town centre at a cost of £2.80, which have full listings and times of all the events.

The Grand Spectacular Opening of the Regatta will be held on Friday, 9th August in the Whitby Pavilion, starting at 7.30pm.

Some of the highlights will be:

Whitby Regatta 4k Fun Run
Jez Avery Mountain Bike Stunt Legend
4k Fun Run
Under 11 Beach Soccer Festival
Vintage, Post War, Classic & Sports Car Rally
Rowing & Raft Races
RAF & Navy Displays
The Crazy Bears – Europe’s No 1 Kids Show
Motor Cycle Gymkhana
The Grand Parade

Along with lots of stalls, inflatables, punch & judy, glamorous granny and baby contests and more than I can tell you.  Definitely worth a visit to Whitby!

Don’t miss out on the Spectacular Fireworks Display on Monday 12th August at 9.45pm!
